Windsor boy signs with Flint
Lanky defenseman Landon Pickersgill is poised to move up to the Ontario Hockey League with the Flint Firebirds this season.
A Windsor product, the 6 foot 1, 185 pound defender has signed with Flint after starring for the Leamington Flyers of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League during the ’25-26 season. In 65 games — regular season and playoffs included — Pickersgill put up 14 goals, 28 assists, 42 points for Leamington in ’25-26.
Pickersgill, who has a late October, 2008 birth date, was a seventh round pick by Flint at the 2025 OHL priority selections draft.
Firebirds head scout Mike Oliverio summarized that Pickersgill “is a puck-moving defenseman who isn’t afraid to push the puck up the ice. His ability to see the ice and high hockey IQ helps benefit his playmaking skills. He skates very well and can cover a lot of real estate quickly to close gaps and win races to the puck.”
