What a Knight for Spitfires
It is only two games. But the Windsor Spitfires are off to a 2-0 start to an Ontario Hockey League season for the first time since 2019. Before a Saturday night home audience of more than 6,400, the Spitfires skated past the reigning Memorial Cup champion London Knights by a 4-1 score.
Cole Davis — with his third shorthanded goal in two games to begin the season — .J.C. Lemieux, Ethan Belchetz and rookie Beksultan Makysh all found the back of the net for the Spitfires.
Overage goalie Joey Costanzo, who just returned from the National Hockey League training camp of the Philadelphia Flyers, made 19 saves for the Spitfires.
