CAPTAIN VIDEO: Nick Welsh is adding more responsibilities with the Spitfires. Welsh, who has a masters degree in Sports Management from the University of Windsor, has taken over as the Spitfires new video coach. He replaces Jon Moran, who left the organization for a job in the pro ranks. As for Welsh, who has worked in the Spitfires communications department for six years, he will continue in that position as well as moving into the video coach role.

EQUIPMENT HELP: The Spitfires have brought aboard Adam Geleynse as an assistant equipment manager. Geleynse will assist head equipment manager J.R. Grant.

VACCARI SHUTOUT:  Overage goalie Mason Vaccari has his first shutout as a member of the Flint Firebirds. Vaccari, who was acquired by Flint in an off season trade with the Kingston Frontenacs, made 20 saves for the white wash as Flint blanked the powerhouse Kitchener Rangers 3-0. The recent shutout was Vaccari’s first since the ’22-23 OHL season when he was playing for Kingston.
