Here and there around the rinks of Windsor and Essex County with a slight detour over to the Strathroy-Caradoc community of Mount Brydges.

SATURDAY AT CENTRAL PARK: Windsor Jr. Spitfires of the Under 16 level of the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario are in the friendly home ice confines of Central Park Athletics this Saturday for a 4 p.m. match against the Cambridge Jr. RedHawks. The U16 Spitfires have a record of 3-5-2 within Alliance Hockey competition and are led by forwards Roman Shtefan (9-6-15) and Carter Trudell (7-8-15.) Up next on the U16 Spitfires score sheet are fellow forwards Cooper Disher (4-5-9) and Alex West (2-6-8), defensemen Macoy Holmes (0-8-8) and Liam Fitzmaurice (0-8-8) followed by forward Gavin Diemer (4-3-7.)

SPITFIRE PICKS IN LASALLE: Among the more recent Ontario Hockey League draft picks of the Windsor Spitfires are a foursome who are developing with the LaSalle Vipers of the Greater Ontario Hockey League. They are 2008 birth year defenseman Grady Spicer, 2008 birth year goalie Jake Windbiel, 2009 birth year forward Ian Inskipand 2009 birth year defenseman Luke St. John. Spicer is currently fourth on the LaSalle scoring chart — and leading all defensemen — with five goals, nine assists, 14 points in 19 games. As for Windbiel, he has a 5-3-1 record with a 3.73 goals against average and .899 save percentage on a LaSalle squad that is 10-10-2 through 22 games. Meanwhile, Inskip has 4-5-9 totals in 22 games while St. John is 2-3-5 in just eight outings.

SPITFIRES HOME TO SAGINAW: Sitting atop the Western Conference of the OHL with 33 points from a record of 15-4-3, the Spitfires are home to the Saginaw Spirit this Friday in a 7:05 p.m. start time at the WFCU Center. Homegrown defenseman Carson Woodall leads the Spitfires in scoring with four goals, 26 assists, 30 points. Meanwhile, second year forward Ethan Belchetz leads Windsor in goals with 16 in 21 games.

JACK UNIAC HITS 150 GAMES: Mount Brydges Bulldogs captain Jack Uniac achieved a notable milestone when he recently played in his 150th career game in the Provincial Jr. Hockey League. An overage defenseman, Uniac also has prior junior experience with the Komoka Kings of the Greater Ontario Hockey League. As for Mount Brydges, the Bulldogs are home to the Aylmer Spitfires this Saturday in an 8:30 p.m. start at Tri-Town Ice Arena. Mount Bridges currently has a record of 8-7-1 within the Yeck Division of the PJHL.
