Tecumseh title triumph
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — Four games. Four wins. Total team attainment. Steely resolve. It all computed to a hard earned championship for the Under 15 Rep Tecumseh Shoreline Eagles at this past weekend’s Pittsburgh Veterans Cup Hockey Tournament.
With the tournament sweep, Tecumseh now has an overall record of 13-4-0 this season, including a 4-3-0 mark within the hotly contested Bluewater Hockey League that the Eagles are a part of. All things considered, Tecumseh is now riding the crest of a six game winning streak within regular season and tournament play.

As for the well played, well organized Pittsburgh Veterans Cup, Tecumseh totalled round robin triumphs over St. James of Springfield, Virginia, the Ontario based Niagara Flying Aces and the Montgomery Ice Devils from Maryland by respective scores of 4-1, 4-3 and 7-2 to earn a bye to the big dance — and a rematch against St. James.
And what a thriller of a championship match it was.
Hard toiling forward Michael Janceski tallied twice — including one into an empty net — to spark Tecumseh to a spine tingling 3-1 triumph over St. James in the title tilt. Seb Lehoux also found range for Tecumseh while Sault Ste. Marie ex-patriot goalie Owen Whitehead made several timely saves, including one with just over 30 seconds remaining in the third period that preserved a 2-1 lead and preceded Janceski’s clutch empty net clincher.
Whitehead and fellow Tecumseh goalie Christian Zgomba both stood tall in the tournament with two wins apiece. In their respective two outings, Zgomba allowed only three goals while Whitehead gave up just four.
Offensively, several Tecumseh skaters had multiple points. Seb Lehoux led the way with six goals, two assists, eight points, Carter Pluss had 2-4-6 totals, Michael Janceski scored five times, Fulton Flanagan had a goal and two helpers, Wesley Smith had three assists, Daniel Thompson potted a pair of goals and Ethan Ford was 1-1-2.
