Tecumseh takes it in OT
A dramatic goal by Seb Lehoux 19 seconds into overtime capped a frantic comeback for the Tecumseh Eagles in the opening game of their second round Under 15 rep level Bluewater Hockey League playoff game tonight against the visiting Talbot Trailblazers.
Lehoux’s timely tally gave Tecumseh a 4-3 triumph and a 1-0 lead in the best of three semi final series.
Trailing 3-1 with five minutes left to go in the third period, Tecumseh closed to within a goal when Nash Lemay scored to finish an end to end rush by Eagles defenseman Cam Girard.
Then, with the clock ticking and goalie Christian Zgomba on the bench for an extra attacker, speed demon forward Carter Pluss tied the game for Tecumseh with 18 seconds left on a goal that sent the home side faithful into a frenzy and set the stage for Lehoux’s OT winner.
Dom Barry scored the other Tecumseh goal.
Among others who stood out for Tecumseh was warrior defenseman Owen Sutton, who, as usual, performed bigger than his size in playing a standout, all around, energetic game.
