Once again the Spitfires held the shots advantage on the opposition only to come away empty. Playing at home on Thursday, Windsor outshot the Sudbury Wolves by a 31-22 margin only to lose 6-2.

The Wolves now have a record of 7-0-1 thus far into the ’26-27 Ontario Hockey League season while the Spitfires have a 3-5-2 mark.

Newlove Nicked. The loss for the Spitfires to Sudbury  was the latest with second-year goalie Michael Newlove between the pipes. Newlove allowed five goals on just 21 shots — Sudbury also had an empty net tally — and now has a lowly record of 1-4-2 to go with an .854 save percentage and 3.30 goals against average. Newlove has faced more than 30 shots in only one of his seven starts thus far this season.

Windbiel Waiting In The Wings. Rookie backup Jake Windbiel might be in line for a start soon. The big goalie has a record of 2-1-0 with an .871 save percentage and 2.66 goals against average for the Spitfires this season. He was won each of his past two starts, the latest back on October 1.

Scoring For The Spits.  Second year forward John McLaughlin, with his second of the season, and rookie Hamza Havusic, with his first OHL goal, found the back of the net for Windsor in the loss to Sudbury.

Up Next. Windsor is home to the Owen Sound Attack tonight in a 7:05 opening face-off at the WFCU Centre.
