Spits & Firebirds in a race
One point is all that separates the Windsor Spitfires and Flint Firebirds with both teams having two games left to play on the Ontario Hockey League regular season schedule.
At stake is first place in the West Division and the second seed in the Western Conference behind the Kitchener Rangers.
Flint is at Owen Sound tonight before playing host to the London Knights on Saturday evening at 7:00 at the Dort Financial Centre.
Windsor is at London on Friday night before heading up north to play the Soo Greyhounds on Sunday afternoon.
The Spitfires currently have 94 points from a record of 43-15-8 while the Firebirds have 93 points from a record of 43-16-7.
Spitfires 5, Erie 1. Windsor was able to move ahead of Flint with a 5-1 home ice win over the Erie Otters on Tuesday. Jack Nesbitt clicked for a pair of goals for the Spitfires, giving him 21 on the season. Ethan Garden and rookies Beksultan Makysh and John McLaughlin also scored for Windsor and rookie goalie Michael Newlove made 14 saves for his 12th win of the season.
