Spits finally win in Saginaw

The Spitfires remain in second place overall in the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League.  A 4-2 road victory over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday’s was Windsor’s first win at the Dow Event Center since February of 2023.

With 77 points from a record of 35-12-7, the Spitfires are just two points back of Western Conference leading Kitchener Rangers. Windsor is tied with Flint with 77 points with the Spitfires and Kitchener both holding a game in hand on the Firebirds.

Spitfires 4, Saginaw 2. Captain Liam Greentree (with his 25th of the season), Jack Nesbitt (with his 16th) and rookies Johnny McLaughlin (with his seventh) and Andrew Robinson (with his fourth) handled the Windsor scoring in front of Joey Costanzo, who made 22 saves for his 26th win of the season. Nesbitt’s goal came on a penalty shot.

Family Day Matinee. The Spitfires and Saginaw will meet again on Monday at 2 p.m. in a Family Day matinee match at the WFCU Center.
