Spitfires break on a high
The Spitfires reached the 34 game mark — and halfway point of the ’25-26 regular season schedule in the Ontario Hockey League — with a decisive 6-2 home ice victory over the Soo Greyhounds tonight.

A pair of empty net goals sealed the deal for Windsor as the Spitfires boosted their record in the hotly contested Western Conference of the OHL to 22-8-4 and 48 points.
The Spitfires are mere percentage points back of the Western Conference leading Flint Firebirds and are now four points up on the boys from Sault Ste. Marie, who had come into tonight’s tilt riding a six game winning streak.
With the win over the Greyhounds — one that halted a two game losing streak for Windsor — the Spitfires now head into a 10 day holiday break from game activity on a nice high. The Spitfires do not play again until December 28 when they head to Flint to face off against the overachieving Firebirds.
Ace goalie Joey Costanzo made 27 saves for his 17th victory of the season to backstop the Windsor win over the Soo and Anthony Cristoforo — the veteran defenseman played forward on this night — collected a hat trick and added an assist, giving the former Spitfire first rounder from the 2022 OHL draft 10 goals and 30 points on the season.
Jack Nesbitt, Cole Davis and defenseman Andrew Robinson all found the back of the net once apiece for the Spitfires.
