Here and there in Windsor and Essex County with various teams in the Ontario Hockey League, Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario, Bluewater Hockey League and the Greater Ontario Hockey League.

OHL SPITFIRES: Atop the Western Conference of the OHL, the Spitfires take a record of 10-2-1 into play this week. Windsor, which split a pair of weekend contests with the Sarnia Sting, has three home games this week. The Spitfires will play host to the Ottawa 67’s on Thursday, the Owen Sound Attack on Friday and the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday … Homegrown Spitfires defenseman Carson Woodall is fifth in the entire OHL in scoring with 17 points, all of them assists. Forward Ethan Belchetz is second on the Windsor scoring chart — and sixth in the OHL — with 16 points, including 10 goals … Joey Costanzo of the Spitfires is the top rated OHL goalie with a record of 8-1-0, 1.53 goals against average and .926 save percentage.

Roman Shtefan

U16 SPITFIRES: After a set of exhibition games and two major tournaments — one in Toronto, the other in London — the ’25-26 Alliance Hockey regular season is underway for the Windsor Under 16 Jr. Spitfires. Following a 3-3 tie with the Elgin Middlesex Canucks on Sunday, the U16 Spitfires were lit up 10-4 by the London Jr. Knights on Monday. London turned a 4-3 lead in the third period into the resounding 10-4 win, much to the chagrin of Jr. Spitfires head coach Matt Zuccato who told Hockey News Windsor that “it was 4-3 in the third and we decided to get away from our game plan and that’s a powerhouse team that will make you pay.” Notably, Roman Shtefan followed up a two goal game in the tie with Elgin Middlesex with two more in the loss to London.

U15 TECUMSEH: After beginning the Bluewater Hockey League regular season with two straight wins, the Under 15 Tecumseh Eagles lost three games in as many days on the weekend. Next action for Tecumseh is this Friday at 7:50 p.m. in Tilbury against the Kent Cobras.
