Spitfires steal a road win
Despite being outshot by a 37-29 margin the Windsor Spitfires left Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday with a 4-2 Ontario Hockey League exhibition game victory over the Greyhounds.
Second year goalie Michael Newlove made 35 saves and forwards Bogdan Yakushevsky and Ethan Garden and defenseman Andrew Robinson all had one goal, one assist outings to spark the Spitfires to their first win of the exhibition season in two tries.
Defenseman Sam Wathier also scored for the Spitfires while Travis Hayes and Quinn McKenzie replied for the Soo.
The Spitfires will close out their exhibition schedule with games against the Flint Firebirds on Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12. Friday’s game is slated for 7 p.m. at the Leamington Recreation Complex while Saturday’s match is a 7 p.m. start at the Vollmer Centre in LaSalle.
