Homegrown defenseman Carson Woodall scored the only two goals of the game and rookie goalie Michael Newlove notched his first career Ontario Hockey League shutout as the Spitfires blanked the Ottawa 67’s 2-0 on Thursday before close to 4,600 fans at the WFCU Center.

The goals were the first of the season for Woodall and along with 17 prior assists, gives the 2006 birth year defender a share of the OHL scoring lead with 19 points.

And Newlove made 18 saves for the blank to improve his record to 3-1-1 with a 1.99 goals against average and .926 save percentage.

Windsor now has a record of 11-2-1 atop the Western Conference of the OHL. The Spitfires are home to the Owen Sound Attack tonight at 7:05 and have another encounter at the WFCU Centre on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 when the Saginaw Spirit visits Windsor.
