Spitfires light up Knights

Facing the London Knights minus injured forwards Ethan Belchetz, A.J. Spellacy, Nathan Villeneuve and Cole Davis did nothing to halt the Windsor Spitfires  before a Sunday matinee match of more than 6,100 fans at the WFCU Centre.

Rookie defenseman Andrew Robinson scored three goals, rookie forward Caden Harvey had four assists and the Spitfires remained in contention for first place in the West Division of the Ontario Hockey League with an 8-2 gnashing of the Knights.

The win for Windsor kept it a point back of the Flint Firebirds for first place in the West Division and second place in the Western Conference. Both teams have three games to play on the regular season slate.

Also scoring for the Spitfires in the beat down of the Knights were Jack Nesbitt, Alex Pharand, Carson Woodall, Conor Walton and rookie Beksultan Makysh.

Forty Plus. With a record of 42-15-8, the Spitfires have now won more than 40 games in four of the past five seasons, all with Billy Bowler as the general manager.

Ice Chips. Captain Liam Greentree has taken over the Windsor goal scoring lead with 36 … Spitfires’ goalie Joey Costanzo now has 31 wins on the season, which is third most in the OHL.
