Spitfires in a three team tie

There is three way log jam atop the standings of the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League featuring the Windsor Spitfires, Kitchener Rangers and Flint Firebirds.

All three teams have 73 points with Kitchener holding a game in hand on both Windsor and Flint.

In games tonight, the Rangers are at Niagara and the Firebirds are home to Erie.  As for the Spitfires, they are in Sault Ste. Marie for a Super Bowl Sunday matinee match.

The contest at the Soo will cap a three game northern highways road trip for Windsor. The Spitfires garnered a point from a 5-4 overtime loss at North Bay before skating into Sudbury and leaving the Nickel City with a 5-2 victory.

SPITFIRE STATS

Nathan Villeneuve (in photo at left) leads Windsor in scoring with 21 goals, 38 assists, 59 points in only 40 games. Of those numbers, Villeneuve has five goals, 10 assists, 15 points in 12 games for the Spitfires since being obtained in a trade with Sudbury.
