They have flip flopped between first and second place in the West Division of the Ontario Hockey League for much of this season. And the Windsor Spitfires and Flint Firebirds will go head to head twice this weekend.

Flint currently has sole possession of top spot in the West Division — and Western Conference — of the OHL with 64 points from a record of 30-11-4. Windsor is a point behind Flint but the 29-9-5 Spitfires have two games in hand on the Firebirds heading into play this week.

The two teams will face off this Friday at 7:05 p.m. in Windsor and then again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Flint. They will then have two more meetings this season, February 22 in Windsor and March 7 in Flint.

The two teams have met twice this season with the Spitfires winning both, one in Windsor and one in Flint.

The Spitfires can actually move ahead of the Firebirds before their home and home set this weekend as Windsor will play host to the Kitchener Rangers on Wednesday in a 7:05 p.m. start at the WFCU Centre.

Notably, Windsor and Flint both boast top flight overage goalies in Joey Costanzo of the Spitfires and Mason Vaccari of the Firebirds. Vaccari has 24 wins and Costanzo has 22.
