Six straight for Spitfires
And the wins just keep on coming. Windsor Spitfires made it six successive triumphs to begin the ’25-26 Ontario Hockey League season tonight with a 6-0 drubbing of the Niagara IceDogs.

The Spitfires spread their scoring around — and even goalie Joey Costanzo went on the offensive with an assist. The overage Costanzo, a former second round pick of Niagara, won his fourth straight game of the season for Windsor and notched his second shutout. He has allowed only two goals in the four games.
As for the balanced scoring, Cole Davis, J.C. Lemieux, Wyatt Kennedy, import rookie sensation Beksultan Makysh, Caden Harvey and Ethan Belchetz tallied the Windsor goals. Makysh, who the Spitfires took with the 114th pick of the 2025 Canadian Hockey League import draft, now has six goals on the season.
Notably, homegrown defenseman Carson Woodall added two assists for the Spitfires, giving him nine on the season.
Windsor has now outscored its opponents by a 29-4 margin in the six games this season.
The game marked the return to Windsor of former long-time Spitfires scouting director Frank Evola. A Windsor native, Evola was hired by Niagara during the off season as its new general manager.
Next up for the Spitfires are a pair of road games this weekend. Windsor plays at Brantford on Saturday and at Owen Sound on Sunday. Both the Bulldogs and Attack are off to good beginnings to the season.
