Cool kid Mason Courville
Two days shy of his 16th birth day — and as the youngest goalie in the Ontario Hockey League — Mason Courville had a pair of firsts.
Courville made 19 saves for his first OHL shutout — and his first OHL win in just his third career start — as the Flint Firebirds scored a 5-0 victory over the Erie Otters on Saturday.
The 6 foot 1, 180 pound Courville now has a record of 1-2-0 with a 3.34 goals against average and .885 save percentage as Flint’s rookie backup to overage Mason Vaccari.
A third round pick by Flint at the 2025 OHL priority selections draft, Courville has improved in each of his three starts to date. After allowing seven goals in his OHL debut and just three in his next start — both losses to the Sarnia Sting — Courville responded with the shutout over Erie.
