Key games for U16 Spits

Two home games are on the slate this weekend for the Windsor Jr. Spitfires of the Under 16 level Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario.

The U16 Spitfires are in sixth place among the 11 teams of the Alliance with 22 points from a record of 9-11-4. They are home this weekend to two teams slightly below them in the standings.

On Saturday, the U16 Spitfires will play host to the 8-12-2 Waterloo Wolves in a 4 p.m. opening face-off at Central Park Athletics.

Then on Sunday morning, the U16 Spitfires are home to the 8-12-3 Elgin-Middlesex Canucks. Start time is 11:30 a.m. at Central Park.

Top five point getters for the U16 Spitfires are forwards Roman Shtefan (23-23-46), Cooper Disher (13-19-32), Carter Trudell (14-14-28), Alex West (7-14-21) and Gavin Diemer (8-7-15.)

Trudell (in photo above) and West are both recovering from injuries.

Between the pipes, Holten McPhedran has won six of Windsor’s nine games.
