The scored was tied 2-2 in the final minute of the third period. The restless hands of time were ticking. And then, on just their 17th shot of the game, the Mount Brydges Bulldogs avoided overtime and won a division playoff title all in one.

A 3-2 road victory in a Game 7 thriller before 900 fans at the North Middlesex and District Arena gave Mount Brydges the Provincial Jr. Hockey League’s West Yeck Division championship over the North Middlesex Stars.

Wednesday’s win for Mount B sends it to the Western Conference finals of the PJHL against either the Essex 73’s or the Lakeshore Canadiens of the West Stobbs Division.

Now the winners of three playoffs rounds, Mount B has a post season record of 12-6. The Bulldogs had finished in fifth place among the eight teams of the Yeck Division during the regular season, albeit a mere five points out of top spot.

Mount Brydges 3, North Middlesex 2. It was Bulldogs defenseman Andy Bastin who scored the winning goal with just 27 seconds remaining in the third period. Tim Jozsa and J.J. Fogarty — with his 15th of the playoffs — also scored for Mount Brydges and Parker Barnard made 30 saves.
