Tecumseh falls to Lake Erie
HARROW — An undisguised exhibit of partisan officiating stood out as a clear cut difference maker in a 5-2 loss by the Tecumseh Eagles to the host Lake Erie North Stars in an Under 15 rep level Bluewater Hockey League match on Friday night at the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre.
Lake Erie scored no less than three two-man advantage power play goals en route to the home ice win over Tecumseh. The home side officiating partiality began less than 30 seconds into the game when the visitors from Tecumseh were assessed simultaneous two minute penalties. Lake Erie was able to score its first of three two-man advantage power play markers to take a lead that it would not relinquish.
The host North Stars led 2-1 after the first period and tacked on three more in the second — two on the power play — to take a 5-1 lead into the third. Tecumseh scored the only goal of the third and to their credit, the Eagles never stopped working until the final buzzer.
Frustrated with the constant penalty calls against his team, Tecumseh head coach Jeff Smith was tossed from the game in the second period.
Carter Pluss and Seb Lehoux scored the Tecumseh goals in front of goalie Owen Whitehead, who made 33 saves.
While Lake Erie was able to benefit from the home brew officiating, it should be noted that the North Stars are a good team that played well in posting its first regular season victory of ’25-26 after an opening game setback.
As for Tecumseh, the Eagles are now 2-1 in league play and have an overall record of 7-2.
