Brantford adds draft picks

As they stand atop the Eastern Conference of the Ontario Hockey League the Brantford Bulldogs have stock piled more future draft capital by trading defenseman Patrick Babin to the Guelph Storm.

Bulldogs general manager Spencer Hyman (in photo at left) managed to get an exceptional return on Babin, a 2008 birth year skater who Brantford took in the second round, 23rd overall, of the 2024 OHL priority selections draft. In exchange for Babin, who has played in only 12 games for Brantford over this season and last, the Bulldogs get future second and third round picks from Guelph.

Noting that moving on from Babin “was not an easy decision”  Hyman relayed to Hockey News Windsor that “Patrick is a great young player and an even better person. This new opportunity will give him the chance to take on a bigger role and continue to develop his game in Guelph.”

As Brantford has sights clearly set on an Eastern Conference and OHL championship for this season, Hyman as the GM could very well parlay some of his deep draft capital for additional veteran talent ahead of next January’s OHL trade deadline.

Stay tuned, as we don’t think that Trader Hyman is done dealing.
