Brantford blasts Sudbury

Brantford Bulldogs have drawn first blood in their opening round Ontario Hockey League playoff series wth the Sudbury Wolves.

Playing at home,  the no.1 seed Bulldogs outshot the no. 8 seed Wolves 43-24 en route to a decisive 6-2 win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference set. Game 2 in the best of seven series is slated for Sunday at 4 p.m. in Brantford.

Luca Testa and Caleb Malhotra sparked the Brantford victory with two goals apiece and Cooper Dennis and Adam Benak each scored once. Essex product Charlie Paquette — one of several key veteran acquisitions by Brantford general manager Spencer Hyman during the regular season — had three assists and Ryerson Leenders made 22 saves.
