Potent Brantford power play

Their offensive arsenal is lethal. Little wonder that the Brantford Bulldogs have the most potent power play among the 20 teams of the Ontario Hockey League. Clicking at 33.9 percent, Brantford is more than seven percentage points ahead of the Windsor Spitfires, who are second overall in the OHL with the man advantage and a 26.8 success rate.

Brantford’s leaders on the power play have statistics that speak volumes.

Forward Jake O’Brien — a first round National Hockey League draft pick of the Seattle Kraken — is atop the Brantford PP chart with 20 points, including five goals.

Up next is defenceman Adam Jiricek — a first round NHL draft pick of the St. Louis Blues — with six goals, 12 assists, 18 points.

Then there are forwards Adam Benak, with five goals, 12 assists 17 points, Caleb Malhotra with five goals, 10 assists, 15 points and Marek Vanacker — a first round NHL draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks — with eight goals, five assists, 13 points.

Want more? At the OHL trade deadline, Brantford added two more forwards with prolific PP numbers in Gabriel Frasca (who had 14 points with the Erie Otters) and Charlie Paquette (who had 13 PP points with the Guelph Storm.)

And oh, there is also forward Jett Luchanko — a first round NHL draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers — who between Guelph and Brantford, has nine assists on the PP thus far this season.
