2-2-1 Spitfires away for two
Riding the crest of two straight wins — including a 3-2 home ice verdict over the North Bay Battalion on Thursday — the Spitfires are away for games tonight in Guelph and on Saturday evening in Owen Sound.
Windsor now has a record of 2-2-1 on the young Ontario Hockey League season.
Points Parade. Rookie Bogdan Yakushevsky leads the Spitfires in scoring with three goals, three assists, six points in five games. Up next are Anthony Cristoforo with three goals, two assists, five points, Shawn Costello with 2-1-3 totals and defenseman Andrew Robinson with 1-2-3 stats in just two games. As for Costello, his two goals are in comparison to having scored just once in 65 previous OHL outings while suiting up for the Spitfires and the Oshawa Generals.
Between The Pipes. Rookie goalie Jake Windbiel has started the past three games in the Windsor net. The 6 foot 4 puck stopper now has a record of 2-1-1 to go with a 2.66 goals against average and .871 save percentage … Second year goalie Michael Newlove is back and ready to play for the Spitfires after being injured in practice last week.
Bell Tells It All. All Spitfires games are broadcast live on AM 800 CKLW with the vibrant Steve Bell and the pulsating play by play yell.
