The Spitfires top goalie prospect from the 2024 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft is off to a nice start with Windsor’s Jr. B affiliate team in nearby LaSalle.

Standing in at 6 foot 4, 190 pounds and with a 2008 birth date, Jake Windbiel was taken by the Spitfires in the seventh round of this year’s draft and subsequently signed to an OHL contract.

Since being recently assigned by the OHL Spitfires to the Jr. B Vipers of LaSalle, Windbiel has stopped 55 of 58 shots in 100 minutes of action and has a .948 save percentage to go with a 1.80 goals average and 1-0 record.

Bill Dark, who is the director of goaltending in charge of scouting and development for the Spitfires, told Hockey News Windsor that LaSalle is a “good spot for Jake to develop and play. Junior B is a tough league and good challenge for a young goalie.”
