They have an impressive record of 14-5-2 and are just three points out of first place in the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League. But the Spitfires have been in a bit of a tailspin of late wth a 5-4-1 record in their last 10 outings.

Windsor just returned from a three game road trip up north that wasn’t pretty but did at least yield three points. The Spitfires began with a 5-3 win at North Bay only to be throttled 9-3 by the Sudbury Wolves. The Spits did manage a point from a 2-1 overtime loss at Sault Ste. Marie to conclude the road swing.

Windsor was outshot by a wide margin in all three games. In North Bay, the Battalion outshot the Spitfires 38-21. In the loss to Sudbury the Wolves had a 40-27 shot advantage. And in the OT match in the Soo, the Greyhounds held a 37-24 shot advantage over the Spits including 5-0 in the few minutes of the extra period.

The Spitfires return to the home ice of the WFCU Center on Thursday of this week when they play host to the Barrie Colts in a 7:05 p.m. face off.
