Skilled skater Ty Dubreuil, who the Windsor Spitfires snagged in the 14th round of the 2025 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft, displayed his blazing speed and all around athleticism at the recent Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association track and field meet.

Dubreuil, a Grade 10 student at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School in Sudbury, sprinted away from the competition by a wide margin in finishing first in the 400 metre run. He then added to his gold medal haul at the NOSSA championships — which were held in Sault Ste. Marie — by being a part of the Sudbury Lo-Ellen track team that set new records in both the 4 X 100 and 4 X 400 relay races.

On the ice, Dubreuil was one of just five players from the Northern Ontario Hockey Association to be picked at the 2025 OHL priority selections process.

And it was the Spitfires who made the call to take the 5 foot 11, 160 pound right winger in the 14th round of this year’s draft. Dubreuil put up 17 goals, 17 assists, 34 points in 32 regular season games for the North Bay Under 16 Trappers in ’24-25 and added a goal in three playoff outings.
