Spits at HC camps
Four players who figure to be prominent performers for the present and future of the Spitfires have been invited to separate Hockey Canada summer camps.
Jack Nesbitt, a 6 foot 4, 2007 birth year forward who was Windsor’s first round pick at the 2023 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft, has been invited to Canada’s under 18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup camp. Nesbitt netted nine goals, nine assists, 18 points in 58 games as Spitfire rookie in ’23-24.
Meanwhile, a troika of 2008 birth year skaters who the Spitfires took with their top three picks of the 2024 OHL priority selections draft — forwards Ethan Belchetz and Jean-Christoph Lemieux and defenseman Carter Hicks — have been invited to Hockey Canada’s under 17 development camp.
The 6 foot 5 Belchetz was the first overall pick by Windsor at this year’s OHL draft. The Spitfires then followed by taking both the 6 foot Lemieux and the 6 foot 2 Hicks in the second round of what is shaping up to be a potential game changing ’24 draft conducted by Windsor general manager Billy Bowler.
