Here come the Spitfires
The Spitfires take a two game road record of 1-0-1 into their Ontario Hockey League regular season home opener tonight. Opening face-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. at the WFCU Center as Windsor plays host to the Kitchener Rangers.
Smooth operator Steve Bell and his brother of the broadcast booth Manny Paiva will have the radio play by play and commentary on AM 800 CKLW.

After starting the ’24-25 schedule on Wednesday with a 5-4 overtime win over the reigning Memorial Cup champion Saginaw Spirit, the Spitfires again skated into the OT stanza on Friday in Sarnia. But the Sting struck for the OT winner off the stick of overage forward Tyson Doucette and the home side skulked off with a 5-4 sneaker.
Liam Greentree netted a goal and served two assists as the Spitfires settled for a point from the OT setback at Sarnia. Ryan Abraham, Jack Nesbitt and Cole Davis, all with their second tallies of the season, also clicked the goal meter for Windsor while defenseman Anthony Cristoforo and rookie forward J.C. Lemieux had a pair of assists apiece.
Notably, Nesbitt has a team leading 14 shots on goal in the two games. Meanwhile, Lemieux, one of four 2008 birth rookies on the Spitfires, now has three assists in his first two OHL games. And it is Cristoforo who leads the Spitfire score sheet with one goal, four assists, five points in the two games to date.
