Goalie Max Donoso is moving from one high level of hockey to another without leaving his hometown of Windsor.

Max Donoso

After finishing his Ontario Hockey League career with the Windsor Spitfires in 2023-2024, Donoso has committed to the University of Windsor Lancers effective the 2024-2025 season.

In an OHL career that spanned three seasons between the Spitfires and the Ottawa 67’s, Donoso posted a record of 54-40-12 along with a 3.33 goals against average and .889 save percentage.

Originally taken in the fifth round by Ottawa at the 2019 OHL priority selections draft, the 6-foot-1, 185 pound Donoso was claimed off waivers by the Spitfires in January of this year.

Kevin Hamlin

In graduating from the OHL and the Spitfires to university and the Lancers, Donoso will get to play for a former goalie in Kevin Hamlin. Hamlin tended the net for four OHL teams from 1978 to 1982 — London Knights, Brantford Alexanders, Peterborough Petes and Windsor.

A coaching veteran of many years, Hamlin first coached at the University of Windsor in 2008 following seven seasons at the helm of the St. Clair College Saints. He was also an assistant coach for a time with the OHL Spitfires.
