Spits smack Steelheads
Rookie goalie Carter Froggett made 23 saves and Ilya Protas potted a pair of pucks as the Spitfires skated past the Brampton Steelheads 5-2 today before more than 5,200 fans at the WFCU Centre.
Frogget (in photo) was making his first appearance since being injured in a game at London on December 11. He improved his record to a tidy 4-2-1 as the backup to veteran starter Joey Costanzo.
As for Protas, the big import forward now has 32 goals on the season.
Ryan Abraham, with his 16th, fellow overage forward Noah Morneau with his 15th and team captain Liam Greentree with goal no. 33 on the season also tallied for Windsor.
The Spitfires, with the win, improved their record this Ontario Hockey League season to 33-10-3. They are first in the West Division and are the no. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
Overage defenseman Tnias Mathurin also stood out for the Spitfires with a three assist outing.
