Spitfires finish up at 5-0

The Spitfires capped a perfect Ontario Hockey League pre season on Saturday with a 5-3 decision over the visiting Niagara Ice Dogs.

Rookie forward Ethan Belchetz scored once and had two assists to spark Windsor, which finished the exhibition slate with a 5-0 record.  Goalie Joey Costanzo made 35 saves for the Spitfires.

As for Belchetz, the first overall pick at the 2024 OHL priority selections draft was a pre season standout with six goals, three assists, nine points in five games.

The Spitfires begin the ’24-25 OHL regular season at Saginaw against the reigning Memorial Cup champion Spirit this coming Wednesday, Sept. 25.

First home game for the Spitfires is on Saturday, Sept. 28 against the Kitchener Rangers in a 7:05 p.m. start at the WFCU Centre.
