Spitfires sign sizeable Spicer
Good size, up and coming defenseman Grady Spicer has officially signed an Ontario Hockey League pact with the Windsor Spitfires.
The 6 foot 4, 200 pound Spicer was snagged by the Spitfires in the fourth round of the 2024 OHL priority selections draft.
Spicer skated for the Brockville Braves of the Central Canada Hockey League for much of the ’24-25 season and scored 8 goals, 13 assists, 21 points.
He joined the Spitfires as an affiliate player late in the ’24-25 season and got into six playoff games for Windsor as a 2008 birth year defender.
“It feels great to be a Spitfire, they are such a first class organization.” Spicer said. “Everything about Windsor makes me want to be a Spitfire.”
Spicer hopes to bring his shutdown role to the Spitfires.
“I hope to bring physicality to the ice and be a good stay at home, shut down defenceman.” Spicer added.
Spitfires general manager Billy Bowler relayed good words on Spicer.
“Grady brings a physical presence,” said Bowler said. “He had a great year last year with his progression and development.”
