Protas propels Spitfires
Rookie forward Ilya Protas has now scored at least one goal in all six Ontario Hockey League games that he has played for the Spitfires. The sizeable skater tallied twice and assisted on another as Windsor scored a decisive 4-1 road decision over the Guelph Storm tonight.

Protas, who Windsor selected with its first and only pick of the 2024 Canadian Hockey League import draft, now has eight goals, four assists, 12 points in six games for the Spitfires.
A third round selection by the Washington Capitals at the 2024 National Hockey League draft, Protas — who has a 2006 birth date — has been an impact player for Windsor early on in his OHL career, as his productive stats clearly state.
Tonight’s win boosted Windsor’s record to a league best 7-1-1 through nine games to begin the ’24-25 season. The Spitfires missed the playoffs and finished 19th among the 20 teams of the OHL in ’23-24 with a record of 18-42-8.
