OHL pick to Chatham
Forward Ian Lachance, who led the Timmins Majors and the Great North Under 18 Hockey League in scoring in 2023-2024 before becoming an Ontario Hockey League draft pick of the Saginaw Spirit, has signed with the Chatham Maroons of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League, Hockey News Windsor has confirmed.
The 6 foot 2 Lachance potted 26 goals, 48 assists, 74 points in 35 regular season games for Timmins in ’23-24 and added five points in six playoff outings as the Majors skated to the GNU18HL championship.
With a 2007 birth date, Lachance was subsequently selected by the Saginaw in the second round of the 2024 OHL supplemental draft.
In signing with Chatham, Lachance is poised to play for Saginaw’s GOJHL affiliate team.
“He’s a big strong kid who can play either wing, can play up the middle, has a nose for the net, has a nose for points, can see the ice very well,” Chatham coach and general manager Richard Santos said of Lachance. “I think, for us, it’s a great signing.”
