Oshawa Generals have moved into the driver’s seat in their second round Ontario Hockey League playoff series with the Brantford Bulldogs. LaSalle product Andrew Gibson (in photo at left) scored the winning goal in Game 5 of the best of seven Eastern Conference semi final to give no. 4 seed Oshawa a 3-2 series lead over no. 1 seed Brantford.

Gibson’s third period goal was the second of the playoffs for the 6 foot 4, 210 pound, 2005 birth year defenseman, who was acquired by Oshawa from the Soo Greyhounds at January’s OHL trade deadline. Gibson is a product of the Windsor Jr. Spitfires AAA program.

The 3-2, Game 5 win for the Generals was their third straight victory of the series after dropping the first two contests of the set to Brantford.

Game 6 in the series is slated for tonight in Oshawa. A win for the Generals will advance them to the Eastern Conference finals.
