Garden and Greentree

Windsor played host to a Garden party on Thursday and among the guests was a Greentree. Rookie forward Ethan Garden tallied twice as did captain Liam Greentree while homegrown plum Noah Morneau also netted a pair as the Spitfires skated to a resounding 8-2 triumph over the visiting Sarnia Sting.

Garden, who was Windsor’s ninth round pick at the 2024 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft, now has five goals on the season. Greentree, meanwhile, has now scored 37 times this season while the overage Morneau hit the 20 goal mark.

Ilya Protas, with his 36th goal and rookie blue liner Carter Hicks — another yield from the 2024 OHL draft — scored for the third time this season to round out the Spitfire scoring. Rookie goalie Carter Froggett made 23 saves in the Spitfire cage to boost his his record to 6-4-1 on the season.

The Spitfires remain comfortably in first place in the West Division and second overall in the Western Conference with 77 points from a record of 37-12-3.
