Cool Hand Luke

Spitfires forward Luke McNamara could well prove to be a valuable depth addition as Windsor heads into the final stretch of the ’24-25 regular season ahead of the looming Ontario Hockey League playoffs.

A recycled forward with a 2005 birthdate who was obtained by the Spitfires from the Kingston Frontenacs for a fifth round draft pick at the January 10 trade deadline, the 6 foot 3, 180 pound McNamara has scored three goals in his last two games for Windsor, which is the second seed among the 10 teams of the Western Conference.

The recent burst has given McNamara five goals (along with an assist) in 19 games in a Spitfire uniform. He had six goals, 13 assists, 19 points in 36 games for Kingston prior to being dealt to Windsor.

A first round pick by the Saginaw Spirit at the 2021 OHL priority selections draft, McNamara just may provide the dividends that Spitfires general manager Billy Bowler saw when he traded for the seasoned skater.
