London Nationals in a reset
Ownership of the London Nationals of the Greater Ontario Hockey League has stayed within to promote Ken Beckett from assistant general manager to general manager. Nationals co-owner Brenda Pomerleau confirmed the elevation of Beckett to GM.
The 41-year old Beckett has had several video coach, scouting and assistant GM roles over the past half dozen years, working for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League and Strathroy Rockets of the GOHL, in addition to the Nationals.
The latest London reset — the promotion of Beckett — follows the early season departure of Sean Ryan as GM and Keli Corpse as head coach. The Nationals had a record of 0-3-0 at the time that Ryan and Corpse left the premises of the Western Fair Sports Centre.
Donnie Martin, who played for the London Knights of the OHL from 1985 to 1988 as a productive, peppery left winger, took over from Corpse. The Nationals have a record of 7-5-1 with Martin at the helm heading into play this week.
David Cole, who had stepped in as interim GM following the exit of Ryan, will return to a special advisory role with the Nationals, aforementioned co-owner Brenda Pomerleau confirmed to Hockey News Windsor.
