It was a matter of time before the Spitfires found their scoring touch. And they did so in an explosive manner on Friday night with an 11-3 shellacking of the visiting Owen Sound Attack.

The 11-goal eruption came in the 11th game of the ’26-27 Ontario Hockey League season for Windsor. In their first 10 games of the season, the Spitfires had only 26 goals despite outshooting the opposition in the majority of the contests.

The victory over Owen Sound improves Windsor’s record to 4-5-2 on the season.

Super Max. Speedy forward Max Brocklehurst (in photo at left) had a career game for the Spitfires with three goals, two assists, five points. As a part time performer for the Spitfires in ’25-26, Brocklehurst had two goals, three assists, five points in 27 regular season games before scoring twice more in eight playoff outings.

Ty Game. Rookie forward Ty Bergeron (in photo at left) finally hit the scoresheet for the Spitfires after going pointless in his first 10 OHL games. A Metro Detroit product with good size and pro potential, Bergeron was rewarded for his hard work by scoring once and adding an assist. His first OHL goal came in the third period after he just missed two scoring chances earlier in the game.

Balanced Scoring. Ten different players had multiple point games for the Spitfires in the light-up of Owen Sound. Max Brocklehurst led the way with five points, Michal Svrcek had four, John McLaughlin, Anthony Cristoforo and Caden Harvey had three apiece, while Ty Bergeron, Beksultan Makysh, Bogdan Yakushevsky and defensemen Jesse Debruyn and Jonathan Brown all had two each.

Windbiel Wins Again. Spits rookie goalie Jake Windbiel made 17 saves in the win over Owen Sound to improve his record to 3-1-0 on the season. The winning outing — his third straight — is more impressive considering it was Windbiel’s first appearance in 15 days.  Windbiel looked particularly sharp in the first two periods by stopping 14 of 15 shots. He then gave up two late goals in the third period after the Spitfires already had a 10-1 lead.
