Spitfires get a point at home
One point is better than none. The Spitfires outshot the visiting Saginaw Spirit 36-25 today only to lose 3-2 in a shootout.
Still, Windsor gets a valuable point — they all add up, right? — from a Thanksgiving Day match and now has a record of 3-4-2 through nine games of the ’26-27 Ontario Hockey League regular season.
Saginaw goalie Stepan Shurygin stood tall in the Spirit net with 34 saves while Michael Newlove of the Spitfires made 23 stops. The veteran Newlove now has a record of 1-3-2 for the Spitfires this season as opposed to a 2-1-0 mark that his rookie partner Jake Windbiel has.
Offensively, forwards Ethan Garden and Beksultan Makysh both scored their third goals of the season for the Spitfires in today’s Western Conference tilt against the Spirit.
