Jake LaMontagne stands tall

LaSalle Vipers dropped a recent 6-3 decision to the visiting Komoka Kings but 2010 birth year defenseman Jake LaMontagne  stood out as one of the youngest players in the Greater Ontario Hockey League.

Playing big minutes for LaSalle, the 6 foot 5, 195 pound LaMontagne (in photo at left) gave a good glimpse as to why the Windsor Spitfires made him a fourth round pick at the 2026 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft from AAA Detroit HoneyBaked.

While he is still playing into his growing body as a tall, lanky youngster who has a bit of a slow first stride, LaMontagne was very impressive in what was only his third GOHL game for LaSalle.

The length of his stride clearly increased once he got going.  Not only that, LaMontagne made quick, crisp, clean, passes in all three zones and was in perfect position to receive a pass when directed to him.

While he was pushed off the puck on Komoka’s third goal of the game,  LaMontagne rebounded in fine fashion to turn in an all around good game as a 16 year old kid up against players as much as four years older.

Already signed to a a full OHL package by the Spitfires, LaMontagne — who is a client of notable player agent Eddie Mio of Octane Sports Management — looms as a lad who is well worth the fourth round pick that Windsor general manager Billy Bowler invested in at this year’s priority selections draft.
