Flint signs a fast forward
Strong, speedy forward Cole Guizzetti has signed a standard Ontario Hockey League contract with the Flint Firebirds.
A 5 foot 6 mini mite with blazing speed and brute strength, the 2010 birth year stalwart from Sault Ste. Marie was snagged by Flint in the third round (52nd overall) of the 2026 OHL priority selections draft.
Since leaving his home in the Sault at age 14, Guizzetti has spent the past two seasons playing for the Upper Canada College AAA program. In ’25-26, Guizzetti gunned 42 goals, 51 assists, 93 points in 68 games as a captain of the UCC under 16 team.
Firebirds head scout Mike Oliverio had much good to say about Guizzetti.
“Cole is a highly explosive skater with an extremely quick first three steps. This helps him separate himself from the opposition while protecting the puck. He creates offense with his speed, opening up the ice not only for himself but also his teammates. Cole is also very good at hunting down his opponents, whether he is forechecking or back checking,” analyzed Oliverio.
