Svrcek could soar for Spitfires
With so many skilled skaters having moved on from the ’25-26 edition of the Spitfires one incoming forward who could light it up in Windsor in ’26-27 is import Michal Svrcek.
The 6 foot, 190 pound Svrcek was selected 53rd overall by the Spitfires at the 2025 Canadian Hockey League import draft. He hails from Žilina, Slovakia — and is crossing the ocean and coming to Windsor for the ’26-27 Ontario Hockey League season.
Svrcek was taken by the Detroit Red Wings in the fourth round of the 2025 National Hockey League draft. Internationally, Svrcek, who has a 2007 birth date, has represented Slovakia at the U18 World Championships and at the World Junior Championships.
Spitfires general manager Billy Bowler said he feels as though Svrcek “will make an immediate impact” in the OHL with Windsor -and he should get plenty of opportunity to do so considering a fleet of forwards that includes Liam Greentree, A.J. Spellacy, Cole Davis, Nathan Villeneuve, Jack Nesbitt and Ethan Belchetz have moved on to either the pro or American collegiate ranks.
