OHL Cup to HoneyBaked
There is always a first time. And for the first time in the lengthy history of the OHL Cup, an American team has won the championship.
The historic event happened today at the old Maple Leaf Gardens in downtown Toronto.
In today’s title tilt, Detroit HoneyBaked upended the Toronto Jr. Canadiens 3-1 to come out on top at the showcase of 2010 birth year players who are eligible for the 2026 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft.
HoneyBaked thus finished the tournament with a perfect record of 7-0 while the Jr. Canadiens ended up with a mark of 6-1.
Detroit HoneyBaked emerged victorious from a group of 25 teams, which is the most the OHL Cup has featured in its 23 year history.
The annual event was once again hosted by the OHL in partnership with the Greater Toronto Hockey League.
