Sudbury Wolves gave it a good go in Game 2 of their first round Ontario Hockey League playoff series with the favoured Brantford Bulldogs. But an empty net goal by Brantford’s Marek Vanacker sealed a 4-2 win for the Bulldogs over the visiting Wolves.

Thus, no. 1 seed Brantford takes a 2-0 bulge on no. 8 seed Sudbury as the best of seven Eastern Conference series shifts to the Nickel City for Games 3 and 4.

Bulldogs 4, Wolves 2. In a tight game that was actually tied 2-2 with less than five minutes to play in the second period, Brantford eventually prevailed for the narrow victory. Caleb Malhotra, Gabriel Frasca, Phil Govedaris and Marek Vanacker (with an empty net power play marker) provided the goals for the Bulldogs, who got 26 saves from Ryerson Leenders in what was a first star performance by the Brantford goalie.
