Tecumseh takes out Talbot
Regular season champion Tecumseh Eagles are off to the finals in the Under 15 rep level Bluewater Hockey League.
Three third period goals busted open what had been a closely contested match as Tecumseh upended the Talbot Trailblazers by a 5-2 score on Thursday to take the best of three semi final playoff series in two straight games.
Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the third period and with Talbot pressing, Tecumseh goalie Owen Whitehead made a splendid save and within the next few minutes, the Eagles scored three times to go up 5-1. Talbot would add a late goal when the game was out of reach.
Assembly line forward Nash Lemay continued his post season production with two goals and an assist to help ignite the Tecumseh engine. Carter Pluss, Daniel Thompson and defenseman Levi Yates tallied solo scores for the Eagles and Whitehead made 20 saves.
Coach by Jeff Smith, Tecumseh — which finished first among the eight teams of the U15 BHL with a regular season record of 15-5-1 — is now 7-0-1 in the playoffs ahead of the league finals, which are slated to begin next week.
