Spitfires via the Battalion
The Spitfires have added a seasoned defenseman to their corps of Ontario Hockey League tested blue liners. Hulking, 6 foot 5, 2005 birth year defender Wyatt Kennedy is headed to Windsor from the North Bay Battalion in exchange for 2007 birth year rookie defenseman Adrian Manzo as well as stockpiled second, third and fourth round draft picks.
Kennedy is in his fourth season in the OHL and is a former third round pick of North Bay who brings the experience of 173 regular season games and an additional 24 playoff matches to Windsor. The Spitfires are challenging for first place in the Western Conference of the OHL while North Bay is near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Spitfires general manager Billy Bowler offered a few words on what Kennedy brings to the Windsor back end.
“Wyatt is a big body with a veteran presence,” said Bowler. “He has played a lot of important games in the last few years, and we think he is perfect for our group.”
