Max on track in LaSalle
Signed Spitfires forward prospect Max Brocklehurst has shrugged off a sluggish start and is lighting it up with the LaSalle Vipers of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League. He now has seven goals, nine assists, 16 points in 15 games for Windsor’s affiliate team in nearby LaSalle.
Brocklehurst, who has a 2008 birth date and does not turn 16 until December 30, was a third round pick by Windsor from the AAA New Hampshire Mountain Cats at the 2024 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft. He amassed amazing totals of 71 goals, 83 assists, 154 points in 71 games with New Hampshire in ’23-24.
“The offensive numbers jump out at you, but he also has an elite hockey IQ,” Spitfires general manager Billy Bowler said of the 5 foot 9, 155 Brocklehurst. “When he plays, there are the stats, but when he has the puck, it’s the way he enters the zone. He’s a gifted hockey player and it’s a skill not many have.
“He gets in the zone, he knows the angles to take to get there, he knows where the pressure is coming from and he has a real knack to not only be able to change direction safely, but to find players and make plays for scoring chances,” Bowler added of Brocklehurst, who was the youngest player taken at this year’s OHL Draft.
